Bodum Sale Take Two

by rhpot1991 » Jan 31st, '08, 14:34

Old thread got deleted in some confusion, so here we go again.

Amazon is having a sale on Bodum Coffee and Tea Glassware & More:

I have a set of the 9oz Pavina's that I enjoy. I have seen some people question how sturdy they are, and they seem to hold up quite well for being thin glass.

Anyway RH, that cup is stunning in its simplicity and form.

I had some 5 or 6 oz Pavinas and absolutely loved them, but alas, they did not stand up to being dropped in the sink while washing. Unfortunately, it's easier to drop the smaller cups when they're slippery because the curve of the cup is more exaggerated. It's sort of hard to get a good grip on it.

I'd probably buy the Pavinas again when I live in a place with a dishwasher, though, and use them as my everyday drinkware for everything--not just tea. They were awesome.

I'd like to get the smaller ones too, if I only had room!
Glass is definitely my thing. I've had my finger on the add to cart button several times now, but the truth is I like big cups.

I really like the double walled glass cups. Serenity Art sells the more rounded gongfu cups (1oz, 2oz, and 4 oz), and I got a couple of the 9 oz Pavinas for general use. They are usually made of thermal glass, the same stuff that test tubes and beakers are made of, so the thin glass holds up quite well. It's true that they do slip out of your hands easily when soapy, but as long as you're careful it's not too bad. I usually grip them with my thumb on the inside of the cup and try to wash the spot that I'm holding it on after rinsing the rest. I also only really only wash them with soap when I have company coming, the rest of the time I just use boiling water.

Glass has class, I should order the small ones. Tea in these cups exudes all kinds of panache. I am so into Asian teaware, but this appeals to another side of me, a newer side.
