Seems like a typical experimental chawan that actually turned out OK. The whole glaze is affected and it didn't break. Its not a very complementing set attributes, but maybe someone thinks exactly otherwise.

Probably fired twice by the look of it..

Now this new site color scheme has given me a starting headache again so I'm out.

Hey guys,

Does one know how to order from saitoan when being overseas ? Is it even possible ?

I've been lurking around and I am starting to get crazy over not getting an answer from them (in english unfortunately).

Thank you if you have any kind of answer...

I ordered from them twice. They will totally sell to you. But you won't like the shipping prices. They make darn sure no tornado could damage their stuff. You have to fill out this page:
Inquiry Page

Go copy/paste each of the subsection descriptions into google translate. I think it goes in this order:
1) Name 2) email address 3)confirm email address 4)subject 5)message: just write in English.

The inquiry form sends to a different email address than the one listed at the bottom of their page.

Good luck

An inexpensive Seigan teabowl, about 10oz so it works either as a smaller matcha bowl or bulk consumption of other tea.

Wow, I have to thank you for inadvertently introducing me to saitoan with your post. The pieces on that site are wonderful. Maybe when I have the money to in the future, I will buy something from them

Picked this one up from Zencha as an impulse buy (15% off). Now, Zencha describe it as a chawan, however, that's as opposed to some of their other 'matcha-wan'...
I'm not actually sure what to use it for. Suggestions? Excuse the poor photos:

I'd use it for sencha, and oolong, and depending on the size, sometimes even for other things, like hot chocolate, or fresh berries or cut fruit.

It's an odd halfway size. Feels a little too big for sencha, unless you're prepared to drink a lot of it in one go. I think I'll use it for a little bit of everything though.
Cut some mint from the garden last night:

Hi guys!
Would you mind helping me identify the artisan's stamp here?
Thank you in advance.
It's a guinomi and it looks like hagi ...

The first symbol (the one one the right -- you have them sideways, by the way) is 泥, or at least looks like it. It's the kanji used for "mud," which makes me wonder whether it's really a person's name. If it's a name, could be Doro, or Nazumi, or a number of other things...

I can't even begin to guess what the other symbol is.

My sansai teabowl by Seigan Yamane is comming to me. I wonder if sansai develops glaze cracks as white thick hagi glaze used to do.

Nice. Does it have cracks on glaze?

Very lovely! I have one like this, and the crazing in the glaze will indeed stain with tea. The cup I haven't isn't staining nearly as quickly as the "Tempest" cups we got from the TeaChat special years ago, though.
