There is Hagi, and then there is Hagi.
I recently got a set of 6 Hagi cups for $9.99 on the internet, very nice cups!!! I will have to post them, but they are more "production pieces" and are mass produced. I am sure the ones you bought are as well.
You will NOT get artist signed pieces (in this case Yamane Seigan), with artist signed wood box for 3 bucks anywhere. Just does not happen. Artisans will not dilute the value of their works.
Plus these are very limited availabilty.
Regardless, enjoy your Hagi.
Wow Buzz that's gorgeous!! I remember seeing that one.
Very nice. I have been watching for some different glazes in
a nice cup size. Wish there were more being offered.

The problem is - it gets really hot to handle!!
I might not end up keeping it. Now I see the wisdom
of getting one with a handle. This is about 8oz.
Buzz Fledderjohn- love the thumb dents- gorgeous piece

That's a great looking piece! Looks like it would be very comfy to hold and a nice size. Maybe it would be better if you didn't fill it close to it's capacity. It wouldn't get so hot perhaps? Just a thought.
We normally don't have problems w/our Deishi getting to hot, but then with greens, the water isn't too hot either!
.
Thanks Cheryl!
Actually, I used it the first time brewing the Sae Midori. So it was a green, but yes, I need to not fill it not so full or get a larger one! It was plenty hot even brewing a green.Mrs. Chip wrote: Hey Victoria,

Great Chawan, Buzz!!!! It looks like the green is very concentrated in a narrow band and did not run as in the current batch of sea cucumber glaze like I shared photos of?
Very nice Deishi Yuzamashi, Victoria. I have been "looking" at several to compliment a Deishi kyusu and houjin.

Very impressive Hagi collection, Fortunata! I recognize many of the pieces.
TPHK, I was shown those actually. The houjin and matching yuzamashi and cups are quite attractive to say the least. I am currently working with a vendor who is willing to help us with a really nice and special offering to members of TeaChat. Stay tuned.
