The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
Stunning. Absolutely stunning. I love Kaneta Masanao's work and I hope that one day I can buy one of his yunomi.Fuut wrote:I tried to stop myself buying ceramics for a month orso.. until this came by.. and i slipped up again

Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
Wow that's a fantastic collection Thank you for showing.
LOVE the two Seigan caddies! Your pair seems the white one is larger, i have a white and blue one too, but the blue one is larger:)
Unfortunately it seems the hagi topic is dieing..
Edit: after careful exposure of the photo's, it seems its all Seigan in the first, and all Deishi in the second photo. That's just spectacular, I've never seen such a huge collection (and i have quite a lot of Seigans work too )

I noticed the lack of new posts, and replies as well. I don't think I posted after my last trip to Hagi, a year ago, nor the pieces I acquired since. I wasn't able to visit Hagi this summer but I am in discussion for a (or two) new Hagi work. I'll try to post in a month or so when it arrives.
It's always a nice day to find something new in this topic.

oops, missed this ... you meant the first (top) photo is Deishi Shibuya's work and the second is Seigan's workFuut wrote: Edit : after careful exposure of the photo's, it seems its all Seigan in the first, and all Deishi in the second photo. Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
It is my hope, with the 100 or so Hagi Association of Ceramic Artists members, and all the other non-members, this topic could delve beyond Seigan (Saigun is his spelling) or Shibuya and a handful of others to really cover Hagiyaki. It's a vibrant place with a new generation of artists and diverse influences. It's enjoyable to view any and all posts, especially if one contributes to the wealth of knowledge found here.
Re: The unofficial/official HAGI topic!
On the other hand, Deishi's works are easy to find on the net, such as Seigan's ones, it's not a surprise if they are over-represented here
For some others Hagi artists :
Masanao Kaneta 8th, "old style" and "new style" Yoshika Hatao, son of Yoshika Taibi Gashudo Kiln (also not considered as a "real" Hagiyaki artist!):
What is really Hagiyaki is a matter of perspective, as many residents of Hagi-city do not consider Seigan as a real Hagiyaki artist, what I learned to my surprise on site ...rdl wrote:to really cover Hagiyaki.
