Beauties, Hope, Nenugal, and David!

David, the Deishi houhin is quite nice, it is small, but really great to use. Hope you get one to complete the "set."

This is probably my favorite cup that I've seen.

One of my latest acquisitions seems to have become a leaker of epic proportions. I must say, I kind of like it, now that I'm over the initial shock. I've been using it off and on for about two months now, but this is the first time I've ever seen it happen. I'm glad I snapped a picture of it!

Has anybody else ever had this happen to such a degree?

This is the cup on the website before I bought it:

And this is the cup now:

Wow, I thought those red/orange drops were actually glaze until I saw the 'before' pictures. Sounds like time to do the hagi-leak-stop trick, and probably more than once.

I have no experience of this whatsoever myself, my current 'leaker' being due to sudden impact with hard surfaces rather than any looseness to the clay.

Biwa aka loquat are famous leakers. We discovered this with Hagi SO 4 ... talk about leakers. However the cornstarch method worked perfectly ... at least for me.

The first time I saw hagi-yaki, I thought it was ridiculous. I could not understand why people would seek out that style of teaware. Somehow, in the past month that I've been crawling around this board... I think I'm staring to understand the appeal. I've even been considering getting yunomi style hagi cup just to see what it's like. *GASP* You guys are bad influences.

It was the same for me. Now I own two Kashun kairagi yunomi, the Eiichi ROCK, one Seigan Ice Split, one Seigan notched-foot shiro yunomi, and a Deishi kyusu, and I love them all! :D

Yup. We love our lumpy bumpy frumpy cups

Image

Where the glaze is uneven

And the clay shows through

And we find nothing more attractive than cracks....

....drips....

Image

...and outright scorch marks....

We are dangerous company indeed.
