Fuut,

You might be used to "online sellers" who might better be described as "online REsellers". Their FIRST job is being a retailer. So they are right there minding the store 24/7..... THAT is how they make the money.

Potters are FIRST just that.... potters..... and the fact that they ALSO might have an online sales presence is secondary to the PRIMARY job.

So when you buy direct from an artist... expect a very different experience than what you'd get from one of the commercial teaware (or sword) vendors.

It is possible that he is on vacation.... firing a wood kiln.... away doing acraft fair type event.... installing a solo show at a gallery....... or just flat out in the studio. Or maintining the rest of his life.

best,

................john

PS: Not to mention that 5 days basically puts this right over the 4th of July holiday weekend. Major summer event in the USA.

Apologies, no need to get offended. However other potters on Etsy are very quick to respond. Doesn't nearly everyone especially if its a source of income a steady internet connection? Seems pretty valid to me. However i didn't intend to step on any toes.

Edit: also apart from the national holidays in the Netherlands, really i can't be bothered to remember everything for every country. Waste of valuable head-space:)

Second edit: 4th of July is I guess general knowledge in the western world.

No one expects you to remember every holiday for every country, he simply provided an explanation as to why there hasn't been a response for 5 days.

Clearly. Well.. again i didn't mean to come over offending anyone. Nor did i imply anything negative. I was simply looking for a reason.

... creative types can be a bit slower than sellers of other artisans' works.

It will be worth the wait, but you can always contact via etsy.

Today I finally had a little break to shoot some of my recent secret shino purchases from Shawn....including the amazing porcelain chawan

Image

I enjoy everything from the fantasia in blue....

....to the delicate translucent curtains of blue towards the base

Image

and it's even wilder on the inside....

Image

And of course it's a pleasure to hold and drink from.

Once I was placing an order, a few other things dropped into the cart...a warm golden cup

and a more subtle little cup without handle

The handled cup particularly is seeing lots of use, although it's so handy for morning hot chocolate that it doesn't see a lot of tea.

Some magical new things from the kiln have appeared on Etsy, including a most interesting softly nubbly cup....

Thanks for the plug, Debunix, and the awesome pictures!!!

I've had a couple of really good firings, one wood and the other a kiln load of snowflake crackle. So, I have a ton of new work. It's going to take some time for me to list it all, I think there is a couple hundred pieces and I'm slow :? :)

Your work is beautiful! It's making me want to start a collection like many other people on the forum apparently have!

Wow! I received a package today with 3 small tea cups, a chawan and a teapot (and an unexpected tea pet surprise) and I'm just blown away!

Those new loads are so unbelievably gorgeous!

Stand-by for pics (when i got new batteries for my camera)!!

Yup... Shawn's work is great. I miss my little 60 ml gaiwan from him that I broke... especially since Dan congs are so expensive and last forever. Just don't feel like drinking 2 liters of dancong at a time so it was a very useful size. And it was great to handle.
