Another order from Shawn arrived yesterday. I finally was lucky enough to find a Cha He in stock and jumped on it. While looking I found a cup I couldn't leave at his shop :)

That cup looks even better in your shots than it did on the Etsy listing, and I'd marked it as a favorite there. Glad to see it has a good home!

Hey Shawn,

Awesome work! Been looking at your gaiwans and sold items (on your etsy)...

Perhaps you have addressed this elsewhere, I am wondering why you have produced many smaller 50ml gaiwans and as not as many larger 80ml-100ml ones?

Are there problems related to weight and/or design as the size gets larger?

peace,

bellmont

Thanks for the kind words folks.

@bellmont - There is really not much difference in the making of them. It's just that sometimes I'll get something in my head, like I'm going to make some small gaiwans and then I just keep going, and going. I forget to diversify sometimes. Also, I guess I'm always trying to fill holes in what is commercially available. I do have a whole run of new work that should be done in a couple of weeks that is more diverse in terms of capacities. Gaiwans, shibs, cups, and maybe a few other surprises, all in some new glaze combos. Think copper reds and flambes

Two new additions from Shawn arrived yesterday, a cup (for work, perfect size at 100ml!) and a cha hei. I took a picture of the glaze to show how different it looks when dry versus wet. Incredible!

Wait until it starts to stain a bit....then the flakes stand out more even when wetted.

Oooh, can't wait to see how that works. It's the *perfect* size for the 110mL houbin that I got to brew sencha and gyokuro for work.

And..... I just made the mistake of looking at Shawn's page again. A couple more items headed my way,
