I just received a suspicious email that appears to also been sent to some email addresses I recognize.

I deleted it instantly and recommend you do the same if you received one.

I think Shawn might be away, or perhaps just completely computer compromised... I ordered something from his shop on the 27th, and it hasn't been confirmed or shipped. That latter part's not a big deal, it's more of concern that something bad might be going on!

Have you heard anything since? I think he uploaded some stuff in between this, but I'm not entirely sure.

I also have a bunch of items waiting to be shipped 8)

The stuff I ordered did come. I ordered at the end of March, and he shipped them two weeks later. Shawn also sent a note saying that he had been sick. We still haven't seen him around here, so he still may not be doing well...

Its hard to really capture the translucency of the puddle inside the third cup but its so gorgeous! I have several cups with ash puddles and the like, but none this clear :D

Gosh, it's been forever since I've posted anything here. I stop in and check out posts occasionally, but I usually come away sort of bummed out. I've become caffeine sensitive and can't really drink tea anymore, it's such a bummer! Once and a while I'll give it a go, but if I drink any more then a few sips I feel ill. It's a very sad story, as I'm sure you all can imagine.
I can still make teaware however!! I've been listing a lot of new shino work in my shop, just in time for the snowy weather!

Beautiful cup.

Shawn, growing up, my best friend's father was on an extremely restrictive diet. But he derived so much enjoyment watching people enjoy the very foods he could not ... that he went out of his to provide enjoyment for those he loved just so he could watch.

In a sense, you do the same, but with your functional art that enhances the enjoyment of others. I hope you can ... enjoy our enjoyment!

I’ve had a lot of requests for larger pots as well as pots with a bright white glaze for observing the color of the brew, so I’ve finally gotten around to making some! I have a few sets listed with many more to follow. Check it out and please let me know if you have any questions, thanks! :)

The teaware artisan threads have been awfully quiet lately. Recently I was avoiding my to-do list by checking out some favorite teaware artisans and found this shiboridashi. It's a Shino glaze with natural ash and I'm not sure how much control Shaun had over it, but it formed the most amazing pattern. I call it my calligraphy shiboridashi (yes, I give my teaware names - I suppose it's a symptom of TAD). When I buy a new pot I look to see if there's a cup available that looks like it belongs to the pot, and found a cup that was made with same clay and glaze that was the right size. I've been wanting one of Shaun's crawling shino glazed cups for a while and this one was just right.

That is a very lovely Shibo, and it pairs beautifully with the yunomi.

Really nice photos JRS22, thanks for posting.

I've been firing away this summer and have not had much time to photograph and list new work, so I have my work cut out for me. I wanted to share an example of the direction my shino work is moving. I'm thinking of this work as the NextGen. My shino is SOOO finicky that I have up until recently been unable to incorporate much layering of other glazes. I've finally figure out the nuance of it though and I'm going for it. It's breathed new life into my process and I'm excited again!!
