This claybody/glaze combination never ceases to fascinate me. It does wonderful things in the wood kiln, lots of color modulation and cool crystal growth! You can see a better description and alternate views here http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?li ... d=38046780

Well hello folks, it's been a while. I thought I'd stop in to share a piece from a recent group of work I created that was sort of inspired by a thread here on TeaChat regarding raku ware. I used a very simple, completely non-toxic glaze on this ware. It's been completely glazed, foot and all, by dipping four times, so the glaze is quite thick. This made it necessary to stilt the pieces in the kiln so the would not stick to the shelf, but I thought the extra step was worth it so that there was no exposed clay and would reduce absorption of moisture. Although I'm certain there is some moisture being aborbed into the clay, it seems to be very minimal and the ware certainly does not leak. I've been using one of these and the interior has developed a really nice patina in the cracks, I'll try to snap a photo of it soon.

Hi All! It has been a while since I've been able to participate. I've moved a couple of times and haven't had a real computer hooked up. But now I'm back  So let's see if I remember how to post pictures :?

I don't have my proper photo booth set up yet so please excuse the poor phone shots, but I wanted to share a couple images of some new pieces. I'm pretty happy the way these came out. They are glazed iron-rich stoneware with a Teadust (pun intended) Tenmoku on the exterior and an Iron Red glazed interior (lots of cool crystallization), and the break between the glazes created a really interesting effect, sort of a mottled/hazy transition. I also made some little saucers that match. I have about 20 of these that I look forward to getting photographed properly and posted soon.

Thanks for taking a look :D

I'm glad you liked the video Moss! Beware, clay is VERY addictive so if you start, don't ever expect to finish. There are literally lifetimes worth of things to explore with it and it's a wonderful journey :D
