In new kiln, 200ml teapot, has been decorated by fortuitous fire to "stone covered by lichen" like piece...clay is smooth, glazed just inside.

I'm very tardy in posting this, but I wanted to share the amazing Puerh storage jar that Petr made for me:





I couldn't be happier with this....the clay texture is amazing, and already has the wonderful aroma of raw puerh infused into it. There are so many little details that I love---likethe diagonal notches where the lid meets the body.

I do not soak it in the water before using it. And so far it works. The stove is made from clay labeled as "suitable for cooking" and more importantly it was low fired - so it can deal with thermal shocks very well. The kettle is made of the same clay but fired to around 1230°C in woodkiln. I try to keep water inside - first of all I like when water for tea rested this way before using (at least for few hours) and then it also helps to the kettle "not to crack" You are right, side handle or top handle (bamboo for example) is usually more practical for this. I have made several kettles with side handles. But this one I made for myself so I could allow being a little bit impractical here

here is one of the kyusu kettles I have made...This was quite small (600ml or so) and as usually without glaze inside.

Surprise xmas gift from a teapal came straight from Petr's kiln to me.

A baby yuzamashi.

I've followed the photos on this thread, and there is a quality to this that doesn't make it into the photos. Not sure I've captured any of it, either. But if you have held it and taken in the dimensional quality of the fine details, you will understand.

Lucky me...
