Here's my Black Shibo paired with a petr novak cup, brewing up chiran sencha!

Kyusu, yuzamashi and teacup by Andrzej. Yutaka Midori sencha.

Bodhidharma from Chawangshop.

The pieces complement each other beautifully.

And Now For Something Completely Different ... this chawan was chosen for exhibition in Korea ( 3rd MunGyeong International Chasabal Ceramic Competition). Happy. Unhappy not going this year personal. Hope next year.

Is the glaze mainly spar?

I too was not able to go this year.... I'll be in Yixing and it overlaps the dates. Maybe next year if we both get invited again.

Sorry, I do not understand word "spar" in this context. This is ash glaze, dry with shrinked part on one side and bottom. Too rough could say chanoyu senseis I know but exhibitions has probably different rules.

Sorry.... US colloquial abbreviation for "FELDspar". Looks like a glaze that is mainly composed of a feldspar with a small amount of flux sources.

Yeah..... a lot of the teabowls that potters seem to like so much are not really suited for actual Chanoyu use. But if the interior whisking zone is smooth, it should still be OK and the tactile exterior adds something for the hands to experience.
