pop goes the weasel

by bonjiri » May 13th, '09, 14:13

in ceramics, when u rush, bad things happen. when i fired this, i glazed and there was some moisture trapped in the handle. placement in the kiln was a recipe for disaster as the top of the kiln get hotter than the bottom. pop goes the weasel !

But this has not yet been destroyed by your unforgiving hammer!

Is there an adequate way of gluing - what adhesive would you use?

hammer

herb

hehe...

yyy.

i was thinking of refiring it. which i might do.

the soda kiln in which this teapot was fired, a flux or glaze in the form of soda ash/water is sprayed into the kiln at over 2200 degrees.

epoxy might work, but u'll be able to see the fix.

hmm.

All of your work is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, but that speckled yunomi is phenomenal. The black and the orange just go so well together that the spots almost look alive. It is like a woolly bear caterpillar in the form of a cup.

aloha from overcast but cool yokohama !

thanks !

its actually my hybrid of a ido / natsu with ido influenced food. a tribute to the korean potters who were abducted over to kyushu.

the chadamari is beautiful. sort of remiscent of "hana fubuki" or falling sakura during hanami. i need to photograph the chadamari.

nice to be relaxing here ! we had a splendid french influenced lunch after putting together some deck furniture. hehe !

i cant wait to head out on tuesday to Gotoh Bijitsukan. a preeminent museum specializing in chadogu.

aloha !
