Geekgirl, your photography is incredible.
Truly artistic but never over the top. There's just a lot of soul in each and every picture.
Thank you for sharing it with us!

Awww, I'm sad that this thread hasn't been updated since 2010. =(

I was recently perusing this thread, and this post along with the following discussion on page 9 really struck a chord in me:
Geekgirl wrote:I wonder if you potters ever get your equivalent of "writer's block?" I've been going through a pretty fearsome stretch of such, from a shooter's perspective. [...]
I'm an aspiring artist myself, but sometimes I feel like I'll never truly succeed, because inspiration is so fleeting and sparse... =(

I share this with my students all the time:

“The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who'll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you're sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that's almost never the case.” [/i]― Chuck Close

Thank you John - a great reminder. I have found this to be very, very true, and I feel fortified in the reminder.
That said (and I don't wish to guess at or discuss the cause of her 'absence') - I truly miss GeekGirl and her fantastic photos - truly inspiring.
And - I miss her fantastic and always helpful advice.
Hazaah!
