I have some more pics to share from my recent firing. I love the new green ash glaze I made. I had a blue version then made a cream version and now this... I'm a happy guy.

..and a painting commission I recently finished, 24" x 36, of a guy's river lot near here, painted mostly on location. See where those multicolored, mountain landscape chawans come from?! I have a strong love for landscapes. Hmmmm... It's been a while, I should make some more of those again, love how they come out, when they come out.

Painting and pottery. Nice.
The painting reminds me of many rivers in Michigan.

Those glazes are lovely. How is the droplet so clear and glassy?

Thank you Eyvind. The drip is called "biidoro" It's a special form of "tamadare" (tama=ball, dara=running). I create a heavy ash build up and use a relatively fast cooling, to make the drips glossy. I use a combination of different woods to create the clear, light green color (different woods create different colored ash). I also find fluctuating the temperature during the firing, with the high-temperature finish and relatively fast cooling gives me the variety of surfaces I like the most.

Thanks Cory! I'm firing this kiln close to 20 hours, (13+ with the previous kiln) agitating alternating ember beds (above and then below the grate) approximately every 7-8 stokings after 1800*f when the ember beds are built up enough. More frequently when it's hot enough for the surfaces to be tacky (2100*f). This agitating gives the vertical surfaces ash. It had been collecting on the horizontal surfaces prior when the draft was slower. Then I control my ember bed depth by using different woods/combinations of woods. A lot of this I know that you already know, it's for our TC friends that may also read this.

Thank you Chip, I enjoyed the change up and I definitely need to take advantage of all opportunities for art sales/commissions to pay the bills with. It was mostly painted "plein air" meaning on location. I made over a dozen trips for the day there to paint. Here is me on site. Early on and then approximately a month later

I would be happy to discuss this further but feel I shouldn't spend more of TC's space talking about non-clay/tea related items. I was just tossing in a little something different about me for TC friends. I think some may like to know the "artist" as the "person' a little sometimes. I've always enjoyed it when I know the TChaters on a different level, whether chats on the phone, emails or meeting a TChater at a show. You guys are a part of my life.
