Thanks Chip,
I think the grooves really shows the motion of the wheel when the pieces were created...

Thank you debunix,

I will have to do a test to see, if in fact, the ridges act to insulate the fingers from scorching...I will let you know.

That one stayed up long enough for me to see and admire it greatly as well. It is gorgeous, and makes one wonder what wonders you have replace it with in your personal collection.

Didn't expect that one to last long, very nice piece! Also, sincere thanks for giving those of us here in TeaChat a heads up to any new pieces. I sometimes forget to check in on Etsy. I'm working to remedy that. :)

Good thing I am not a talented potter such as Michael ... I would hoard all the best and not have food to eat. As I was a starving artist, I would admire the beauties on the shelves.

Many thanks for all the kind words debunk, 茶藝-TeaArt08 and Chip, I do appreciate it.

I have to let some of the work go as I feel the need to have it out there and share what I've enjoyed for so long. I know it may sound a bit strange to collect one's own work but the way I work, glaze and fire allows for work that I can appreciate just as though I'm looking a someone else's work. I mostly consider myself a facilitator, helping in the process of being the work to fruition.

Thanks again for the comments,

Michael

Hi,

It's the subtle faceting on this LARGE Yunomi that caused the glaze to flow in a manner that renders what I see as Snow Covered Pine Tree in a Forest.

Many Thanks for looking...

Michael, I posted this in "not my teaware...." but wanted to share it here as well. I really appreciate the aesthetic of your work!:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/166501940/s ... =related-0

What I appreciate about many, if not all, shyrabbit's pieces is their subtlety. The pieces have interest, variety, and yet also do no overpower one. His pieces are often understated and yet complex and elegant. In effect his pieces are a bit like the paintings of Ni Zan, subtle, empty, yet full; they don't attack one's senses but allow a lingering gaze.

His work reminds me of this passage from Francois Jullien's In Praise Of Blandness: "The greatest work of art is the one that will at first be overlooked, the one nobody will even notice." Such a work is the expression of an equilibrium in which "the most contradictory qualities...breathe" in unison. Just as with the bland work of art, it is necessary to "contemplate [classic works] over a long period," "for them to surrender their deepest significance," "so secret is their inner vibration." Then, behind their "apparent aloofness" one may discover "their most exquisite quality": their "reserve." (Francois Jullien, In Praise of Blandness)

Blessings!

I agree entirely. I was just enjoying this little cup again two days ago....

It has an amazingly subtle but somehow brilliant and metallic finish. It's a great cup to relax with.

It's my first Shyrabbit piece so I'm very excited!
