Poll: How many different kind of teas do you have at home?

I just counted mine and excluding the samples I have 47 different kinds of tea, none of them are unopened. How many do you have?

Not counting samples ... less than 20, around half are open.

This has dropped radically over the years from when I was in my must try everything phase, but now I just must try lots of greens. 5 years ago I would have said up to 100 with wayyyy too many open. It became very stressful worrying about all those open teas aging by the minute.

I have over 20 kinds of tea and some samples. Only the samples are not opened. I bought them to give to others to get them to try new teas.

8 in the cabinet, 3 more coming in the mail. Mostly blacks, some tisanes, some greens.

I've been keeping a running tally in another forum that I think is reasonably accurate, and not counting quite a few tiny samples from tea swaps etc, the current count is 75, although to be fair that includes home and stashes in 2 different offices (I work several days a month in other offices where I also drink tea). Only a few of those are really delicate teas where freshness is a big issue, like green oolongs and senchas, and I make a conscious effort to limit the number of those that are open at once, and many of those are puerhs, where freshness is not a virtue, or unopened.

But still, too many!

If you mean by types of tea; Longjing, Alishan, Puer, Tie Guanyin, etc, I certainly have over 50. If you mean how many different teas to I have, I'd have to guess. I have at least 500 different type of Shengpu in my house and almost that in Shupu. Plus there is other types. I probably don't want to know.

I have just over 20 loose leaf teas...I counted 22 but I might have missed some of the older ones. And all of them are open excepting a 50g package of sakura sencha...but I do have an open package of the same tea.

I didn´t count tisanes or teabags which would have inflated the number quite a bit.

Not all of the teas I am actively drinking...there´s a couple which I don´t think I will ever drink and I should get past my packrat tendencies and dump in the garden...Then there´s some flavoured teas (lots of earl greys) which while drinkable I´m never in the mood for anymore. :roll:

The number would have been quite a bit higher last year but I gave some to my gf and used up most of the good teas I wasn´t intentionally aging...I was feeling like I had too much tea sitting around. Then I got into sencha so I am intentionally keeping the number low so I can use it up before it gets stale.

I would say about 35 different teas. I used to have more than 50 though.

I am sure there are more than 50. What makes me very excited now is that I have more than 10 types of teas in hands that I've never tasted yet in my entire life. I stick to my old love and meantime am constantly attracted by new tastes. To borrow a sentence I read from GongfuGirl yesterday - I have an open relationship with teas.

If I count all samples I have in the moment I easily top the 50.
I have seven or eight teas in bigger amounts and really a lot of 15g samples. In the moment I try lots of Oolongs and some Whites and some Pu Erhs and Chinese Greens as well.
I really like trying - and with samples I do not have to worry.

Oh, gosh. Not including samples, I just counted 45 types.

Including samples, around 100.

I keep a log estimating how many cups I have in total because I don't ever want to have more tea on hand than I can reasonably drink in 3 three months. It doesn't include raw pu erh since I don't have to worry about that getting old. Current estimation: 3264 cups. :oops:

3264 cups in 3 months? I never heard of anyone calculating their stocks in this manner. :lol:

Well, I figure how many grams per day and figure 3 months worth usually. Is 3 months a magic number?
