I went on a business trip to Shanghai last year and every evening I visited the Huxinting Teahouse in Shanghai. It is an 18th century teahouse built in the middle of a small lake. It was part of the nearby Yu Garden originally, but is now outside the garden.

The place is packed with people during the day, but in the evening it is empty and a fantastic place to sit and enjoy some tea in an incredible atmosphere. I love the place and always make sure to visit it when I'm in Shanghai. I just thought I'd share some photos. The tea is a bit overpriced, but well worth it for the atmosphere I feel.

Looks beautiful IPT, and the water looks like fukamushi.

How was the tea? Do you recall what tea you had?

The tea was decent. Expensive, but decent. I had Tie Guanyin, Da Hong Pao, and Longjing.

I bet the location certainly helps though!

Sure, location certainly helps. It's located in the middle between the Yuyuan Market and the Yu Garden. They're huge tourist sites, but as I said, the teahouse is empty in the evenings. It's really wonderful then! I would avoid it during the day.

Thank you. Maybe I'm prejudice, but yes, I think my teas are better.

I've been there before. Though I can't recall much other than finding it a pleasant experience and, as you said, very crowded if you go during the day.
