Still remember your 1st time brewing tea in front of crowd?

by auhckw » Jan 29th, '11, 20:13

I just did it the first time yesterday in a tea shop I frequently go. I brought my friends to hangout there, but on that day they were short of hands...so I have to serve.

Like doing a public speaking for the first time, I felt a bit nervous, clumsy, and find things are all over the place. I was totally unprepared.

So any stories of your 1st time presentation?

Most tea shops here do not have a lot of staffs. For some shops, when there are new clients and they are running short of staffs... regulars can either join the unknown group or... brew themselves (that is of course upon the owner invitation).

For the particular tea shop in the photo, I have seen the owners offered other regulars too when they are busy. The owner will just tell them to help themselves and choose the tea they want to brew.

I think it is a very friendly way to treat regulars :)

Hi :)

I like it so much when people are being so friendly, especially in a tea shop this should happen more often. I will be looking for some shops too maybe i find somebody who would let me brew the tea too.

cheers

As long as the water kettle isn't too heavy and I don't have to serve from a gaiwan, I can manage!

i've brewed tea for friends before, but usually not more than 3-4 teas in an extremely casual manner. this time i put more structure on to cover ground and be more 'productive' hah. here's the end result with sir buffalo residing over the proceedings:
