Tea drinking cat?

I'm just curious how many other tea drinking cats are out there. I have 2 cats who can't seem to keep their heads out of my cup and will find them lapping up my warm tea (no milk in it or anything like that) if I leave the area for too long. I scoot them from the cup as soon as I catch them (not sure how tea affects cats). Anyone else with felines with a taste for tea?

I just have to warn you : my cat developed allergies while drinking in my teacups or my waste water, so my vet told me to prevent it. Appart from that, my cat loved the stuff !

One of my cats would drink young sheng if I let her. But to be honest, when I had an indoor/outdoor cat he preferred the dirty water that collected outside in the trays under the flower pots to the clean filtered water in his bowl.

Cats don´t tolerate xanthines (caffiene, theobromine and others) very well since they don´t have liver enzymes to break them down. So tea isn´t really the best thing to let them drink.

Are Tea-People Cat-People? Seems like a lot of tea-ers have feline friends... :D
I have 6. High-six! But I also have dogs...(I used to be a coffee addict--maybe that explains the canine craziaks in my house. )

It's funny that both your cats like to drink tea. Could there be something in tea leaves similar to catnip, I wonder...

Anyhoo...one of my cats will try to drink/eat almost anything I've got in front of me, including tea. Another cat seems to like the smell of certain teas (especially greens) but won't try to drink. And yet another cat seems to really like any kind of 'dirty' water. If it's not plain water, and I leave it for a moment unattended, he'll be drinking it. Another cat actually seeks me out when I pull out the tea and won't leave my side until the tea is gone--seems he really likes the smell of tea.

Cats.... Can't live without 'em, can't live without 'em.

My cat likes it when I make and drink tea at home, because I stay in one place where it's easy for her to sneak her nose under my hand for skritches, and get some nice snuggles on my lap, but she ignores the tea and teawares.

She does like to be part of the scene...

I did have a cat that liked the smell of both tea and coffee, and she would drink from unattended cups of either.

But isn't she the teaware destroyer !?

She was the instrument of destruction of a couple of pieces of teaware, but indirectly--not touching the teawares herself, but by dragging a towel underneath what the teawares were sitting in.

My Cat, Chopin, is a tea leaf eater.

He tends to be around after my tea sessions, where he will jump up on the table and get into the waste water where the leaves are. He enjoys eating spent green tea leaves, so once every three weeks or so I'll let him nibble on some. As far as I can tell, he is healthy, and his behavior hasn't changed, so I don't see too big of a problem with it.

I leave a measuring cup as a "waste bowl", which is filled with the last bits of tea from the cup, and the rinse water from my matcha bowl, etc. Both of my cats jump up there and drink from it as if I left it there just for them. In fact, they get mad if I empty it, and forget to put at least a little water in it.

I am a tea person and a dog person! So maybe more than tea love equaling cat love, tea love equals pet love?

My dog is a French Bulldog called Sencha. She doesn't seem to have any interest in my tea, but she will eat pretty much anything!

We have a cat, a kitten, and a rabbit. The kitten and the rabbit always attack my tea!
