Predicting changes of tea w/ age

by ethan » Oct 13th, '14, 13:07

I bought tea from Nepal that seems to have changed.

After several months a white tea is less floral than before; &, I am able to coax > a hint of sweetness from only some infusions. When prepared w/ a light touch, this tea used to give a lot flavor & character while remaining light in body & subtle. Now a light touch produces "tea water"; or, more time steeping +/or more leaves loses the joy of "white" tea.

The Himalayan Orange black tea is becoming bolder. Originally flavor came as an aftertaste to a large extent. Now it reminds me of darjeeling that until recently was too much for me. I do like this tea very much & drink 2 big cups to start my day; but I miss the way the tea's effects & flavors used to build up to ease me into the day instead of shaking me awake.

Are these kind of changes predictable? Will the tea in some kind of cycle return to it original state?
