White Teas?

:| I've tried white teas and found them to be very weak and lacking in flavor. But, I see many people LOVE white tea. Am I doing something wrong? What is the best way to brew these teas? How long should white tea be steeped before drinking? I like my tea on the strong side. I haven't tried yellow teas. Are they any stronger than white tea?

For my preferences, I often need to use more leaf, longer infusions, and cooler temperatures to let white teas shine. For a silver needle tea, this might mean 2 grams of tea in my small gaiwans with 60mL of water, brewed 160 degrees for 1-2 minutes first steeping.

That sounds pretty good. I shall have to try some too. (in the near future)

Oh and for OP I recommend Show Mei white tea. Loose leaf of course and brew that for a like a 1min 45 seconds. See how that treats you.

EDIT: You can also try the bottled white teas at Whole Foods Mart for a fair price. Tastes stronger then the usual.

There's also this:
https://www.theteaemporium.com/White-Rhino-Matcha.html

I only found one review, for what I think was a different brand:
http://www.teaviews.com/2011/01/25/revi ... cha-white/

I'll have to try it out when I get my next paycheck. Tea Emporium also offers a jasmine matcha that I'm curious about.

Any news on Dragon Tea House's white matcha? I glanced at that when I ordered from them last.

Got left alone so can do it now!!!!

I've followed the instructions given

1/4 teaspoon tea powder
6oz water about 85c

Have leeft it for 4 mins and have decanted it to a jug then into the cup.......... Here goes

You need to decant it as there is a bit of sludge at the bottom :|

First off I don't like the colour, it is dark and not the light fresh colour I like in a white tea, that could be the brewer rather than the brew, maybe after a few try outs it may improve with practice

The taste is good, it is smooth with a slight sweetness that lingers for a while, it wants you to drink more, on the second sip you get that underlying savoury warmth. I could happily go for a big mug full!

As long as you decant it twice and allow it to settle it is great I am impressed, OK the look is not great compared to a loose tea but for a good tea when it needs to be quick then go for it.

Hope this helps.
