Some (coco)Nut, suggested this topic under Teaware and Accessories.

So, best ... or fave.
Keep in mind this is ever changing, harvest to harvest, tasting to tasting. So you can always update.
Feel free to list your fave 5 ... or if you are ambitious, your fave 10
Sencha-s.

Take this list with a grain of Salt I have not tried a massive amount of Sencha yet.
Not in any particular order:
Hosen, Yukata Midori, Miyabi, Nichi getsu (amazing value), and I guess I do not have a 5th.
I should say Vendors:
YM and Miyabi are from O-Cha, Hosen and Nichi Getsu are from Ippodo.

Would also love to know what you like about a particular sencha: the color, body, aroma, sweetness, astringency, hint of brine....??
I'm getting ready to order sencha, and this will only be my 2nd time, so want to try some different things from what I got before.
Looking for sweetness, minimal astringency, rich body for my morning brew.

Kaboku (Ippodo)
Ujibashi san no ma (aka Kirameki for its shincha version) (Tsuen)
Warashina Supreme (O-cha)
About 90% of all the sencha I drink.

It sounds more like Gyokuro.

I have only tried one gyokuro so far, and prefer the senchas I've had, although to be fair, the gyokuro had been opened for a while before I figured it out, and started to get a pleasant brew.

Zencha Ultimate
Zencha Takumi
Ippodo Kaboku
O-Cha Miyabe
O-Cha Yutaka Midori
My favorite from last season was Zencha's Ultimate sencha and second fave was Ippodo Kaboku. The other three were tied for third place.

I subscribe to GTOM from O-Cha so most of my sencha (whatever it is for that month, sometimes not sencha) comes from them. This shincha season I plan on trying some selections from Yuuki-Cha and Ippodo.

I haven't historically liked Ito-En's green teas, but I recently discovered their "Chiran Kanayamidori". It's an excellent green with a good punch of flavor, but brewed right it doesn't have the astringency I normally associate with sencha. It has a rather rich flavor and would goes well with food... though I prefer to just enjoy it in and of itself.
The last batch I had started off great (as expected) but after 3 weeks of letting it sit around (while I was trying other teas) it has lost much of it's oomph... I recommend this sencha highly... but drink it up quick or it'll turn on you!
This is my favorite "every-day" tea now, and it's very reasonably priced. I have been getting it from the Ito-En store in NYC, but since that's closing down I'll have to try out their online ordering.
