The only place in the US that I know I can get it retail is Mitsuwa Market (in NJ).

I really love it @~@ should've bought more than 1 box, I only make it down there maybe once a year, if I'm lucky
You can get it at Den's Tea online in the spring....but it's sold out now. Get on their mailing list if you want a heads up for next year.

Oh snap, thank you so much! I had no idea this was seasonal. Would probably explain why I couldn't find it a lot of times when I was still local. :<

Oh man, awesome. I am definitely going to order some. I absolutely adore the sakura sencha blend.

And to stay on topic, today's green tea:

2013 Tai Ping Hou Kui from Seven Cups ready to steep in my glass gaiwan. It's similar to grandpa style but I decant it to a cup to actually drink it. Otherwise it feels like I'm drinking from a cup filled with seaweed.

2013 Zhu Ye Qing Bamboo Leaf from Go Shop Street

I have to say this is quite bad. This is the third time I've tried it and I can't drink more than three sips before I have to throw it out. Piney and smokey. I can't find any green tea flavor. Yuck.

......and the tea looked nothing like the picture.

Tsk tsk! That is too bad as a good Zhu Ye Qing is usually in my personal top 5 Chinese green teas.

I do not think I ever had an uber fresh one, seems I would get it and let it sit unopened til Winter or so ... maybe giving it time to rest is a good thing? The ones I had were quite vegetal and had a nice sweetness.

... and they were the best "dancing leaves" I have ever seen. :)

Oh so jealous! Never had Seven Cups TPHK, but TPHK is another top 5 Chinese green for me!

Since my digestive difficulties began I've drinking chinese greens more frequently. I've been enjoying the 2013 Zhu Ye Qing, Da Fo Long Jing and Tai Ping Hou Kui from Seven Cups. The TPHK is spicy this year and the Da Fo Long Jing is very sweet. I found the ZYQ required a lot of experimentation as to temperature, and for my taste does best at a lower temperature, but at any temperature there's not even a hint of smokiness.

I've had the problem of smoky tea with other vendors, but never Seven Cups.

Yeah that was one of the worst greens I've ever had. But the good news is that I opened a nice bag of TPHK. :P

A day warm enough for cold-brewed sencha from the refrigerator, so pleasant, brewed from inexpensive sencha from the chinese market.
