Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
I had a cup of sencha today at a local tea shop here in Manhattan Beach, CA. All I have to say is that I'm ready to get back to my own cups of sencha back at school.

2011 - Wild grown Anji Bai Cha - from JK tea
Subtle with slight florals, grass and chestnut. A little fruitiness comes through in later brews. Enjoyable session.

A Korean Ujeon grade tea. Handmade, wild organic tea by tea master Moosong from Naju, a small town south of Gwangju where tea planted generations ago grow wild in the mountains surrounding the town. He has built a lovely tea house in his living compound where he has been making and selling his teas for some years now. It was so good to meet him and feel his love for tea.

Sounds delicious! I've only ordered Korean green tea once (a few seasons ago from Tea Trekker). Don't think it was the highest grade, but it was very yummy none the less.Tead Off wrote:A Korean Ujeon grade tea. Currently enjoying sencha Kumpu from Ippodo. A very refined tea.
Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
I am having an Oojeon from Jukro. Decided to mix it up, I am giving it a different treatment today, I am trying it grandpa style.

What do you think of the Jukro ujeon? Have you tried any of their other teas as well? I was thinking of ordering from them, but after finding a source for those "sunrise" and "sunset" balhyocha by Kim Jong Yeol I am debating where to place my next order.AdamMY wrote:I am having an Oojeon from Jukro. I have had the chance to try a few different Jukro tea's, the oojeon is in my opinion phenomenal. The Daejak is great when brewed grandpa style, I still haven't hit its sweet spot when brewed in a pot yet. I have also tried their compressed Uricha which I found fascinating, though I am still not sure if its in an entirely good way.

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
It's a full day of hadong nokcha for me.
I went down from work today to pick up some water and I saw the familiar "hadong nokcha" label... I have had worse ready made teas.
When I got home there was a package waiting for me of the same brand's "Joeun" Sejak green. Finishing off a cup of this now. My first impressions were not that great compared to other, albeit more expensive Sejak greens. This is not a bad tea, but it is missing the fresh foresty notes that nicer Korean greens often have. Price wise, this one is a bit cheaper at 30,000 won(approx $30) per 100g while many other Sejak greens I have seen from places like Jukno cost about 40-45,000 won per 80g.

I'm having Norbu's 2011 Huang Shan Mao Feng. I don't drink Chinese greens too often, but I've recently decided to explore more of it for experience.
The tea was okay, with a nice simple sweetness and flavors of corn silk and green beans. It lasted about four infusions before becoming rough and bland. I have four or five other green tea samples from Norbu that I will be trying next.

I'm finishing O-Cha's Kagoshima Sencha Sae Midori, the 2010 version. Even though it is over a year old, it is still very flavourful. Pity to see it end.

Alas, just finished Hana No Kaori from O-Cha.
This won't make it to my personal fave 5 (which is good since it is a here today and gone forever tomorrow deal), but it is a different tea worth trying.

OK, seriously let think ...
But this would be a great topic for the Green Tea Forum of TC.
