Enjoying Sunpu Boucha, a Kuki-Hojicha from Norbu. In 2010 he featured a bunch of interesting Japanese teas, but I guess they didn't sell well enough because they haven't been back since. This one holds up nicely, and sadly is almost gone. It's a bunch of twigs and a bit of green stuff, and when brewed nicely dilute, sweet and mellow and just delicious. A gentle end to the day, and a gentle start to the next one as I didn't get to the 'bottom' of the session last night.

Hannah, that kuki-hojicha from Ippodo is one of my favorites, especially for an evening cup.

Xi Hu Long Jing from Norbu: a very pleasing light, vegetal, and mildly floral dragonwell. Nice!

It's been maybe a year since I've had dragonwell...but I do remember liking it quite a bit. I'll look up this one to see if it's within budget

Having a lovely session with Tsuen Aoi sencha from O-Cha: delicate, vegetal, delicious, which has pushed aside all thoughts of their Gyoku-Hou for now. Today even started with a chill from a proper rain overnight, making a warm bowl of sencha a lovely way to start the day.

The Flower of Forgetfulness is not only lovely, it makes a good handwarmer, still welcome even though the sun is now out.

I arrived home from a trip yesterday evening, so today was my first tea in 4 weeks. A package from Shawn of Greenwood Studio fame was waiting for me. I began my teaday with Gyokuro Gyokuro-Hou because I wanted to prepare a tea in my Shawn Shib, which looks even more beautiful than ever when paired with my new handled cup. Pictures to follow when I figure out how to do justice to the glaze on the cup.

Green jasmine from a Chinese-owned company in Bangkok. Intense flavor and great cha qi. Good drinking with breakfast!

Thin porcelain gaiwan (Hainan) to Pyrex cha hu (HK) to white jade teacup (Myanmar). I got a Philips German borosilicate glass kettle for my birthday. Seriously cool since I can watch the water boil as I wait.

My dad bought me this tea in Bangkok a few years before he passed, along with two kinds of oolong. As was typical for my dad, he got me the best he could find. It's decent stuff, and every time I drink it, I think of my dad.

Ming Qian Anji Baicha in the morning.

I usually don't drink greens in cold weather, but couldn't see this precious gift being oxidized

Fermented 'green' from Myanmar that is more loke an oolong. Supposedly organic. Quite nice tea actually. Cheap as heck too! Like $2.50 for 100g. Like no other tea I've ever had anywhere else. Like a fruitier dancong!

Sounds very interesting. Like a yellow tea, perhaps?

Another sencha morning: Tsuen 'Aoi' from O-Cha. I enjoyed a pair of chinese greens over the weekend--Xi Hu Long Jing and An Ji Bai Cha from Norbu. All delicious, and so distinct from each other.
