Had a lovely session with some 2013 Tsuen Aoi sencha from O-Cha, which I'd separated into several portions, vacuum sealed, and placed in the freezer. Fresh and lovely on the 2nd day after opening this pouch.

I wouldn't want to derail a topic, but I have a question that imo isn't worth a new topic. I have a chance to get some 2013 shincha (properly packed and stored). I can't remember the manufcturer at the moment. Is a year old shincha worth the money from your experience (50 g, it is 20% off, still around 15€)?

And to stay on topic, I recently fell in love with tamaryokucha. Love those rich aromas.

Lu Shan Yun Wu (Clouds and Mist) from Teavivre. I LOVE this stuff. I use just 2 grams in a 150ml gaiwan and 175F water. I steep it for 25 sec for the first and then add 5sec to each subsequent round and it just goes and goes and goes and goes... It's amazing to me.

At this point ... IMHO ... I would skip the sale and go for freshness. Not knowing anything else but what you have posted, it is impossible to factor in a the seller's reputation and storage methods.

Plus anyone selling a 2013 "shincha" ... I would have to wonder a bit since shincha is typically off the shelves by mid to late summer of the same year.

I bought one of those shincha kyusu from Den's for the office, and am having a pretty nice cup of sae midori from O-cha this morning. It's not quite as good as when I've made it at home, but considering that I didn't measure anything (time, temperature, amount of leaf, amount of water) it's not bad at all.

Shincha Chiran Sencha from O-Cha.

Very good indeed. Grassy. A good tea.

Better late than never....this morning, a colorful session with more of the Aoi sencha, enlivened with a floral gift from a talented gardener...

Got my certified organic green from China. I tried the cheaper of the two last night. Nice stuff. Natural sweetness, light bean/vegetal aroma and caramel/tropical fruit. Even when brewed longer, the bitterness is not unpleasant. I'm very happy with this tea.

More Tsuen Aoi sencha: a rare evening sencha session, with sencha being asked to stand up to parmesan cheese, among other things, and doing so nobly. Lovely cheese, lovely tea.

Surprised to see this topic dropped to page 3 of active threads this morning. I'm enjoying my last of this portion of Tsuen Aoi sencha from O-Cha, a very successful session. This wonderful tea is so forgiving it's easy to string together a series of lovely infusions. And it's an all Petr Novak shino teawares session on Mirka's shino tea boat this morning. Mmmm.

One more packet of the Aoi left. I'm so happy with the results of freezing well-sealed portions of the 100g package that I'll definitely be doing that again--this is much better now than my sencha usually is by the time I'm 2/3 through the bag. For someone who is not a senchaholic, and goes through it slowly, this really permits spreading out the enjoyment.

Teaism, I don't see the Fukamushi offered on their web site. Can you tell the name of it?
Thanks.
