It has happened to my me with the black tea, I could verify that it was due to an excessive temperature of the water, or boiling. In these moments the water is not more than 90 º for any tea.

As for the green tes what they produce to me is an nuisance easing and drowsiness, apart from the fact that they do not favor to me the digestion.

When I have had some troublesome side effect because of the tea, soil solve it eating a few cookies or wholemeal bread or pasta. I notice that to take carbohydrates me cuts the effects.

It´s strange, green tea is relaxing for me, I guess due caffeine counteraction by L-Theanine. Sometimes I have insomnia and nervousness drinking young pu-erh, not tried aged pu yet

It seems to me that to take more tea of the necessary, can cause the opposite effect, I don't know if this one might be the reason of the tachycardia or of the possible insomnia?. I also have had insomnia sometimes. :?

  There is a famous TCM clinic here in Bangkok. All the doctors are Chinese from mainland China. The 1st one I went to told me 'Don't drink green tea with your condition.' The 2nd one I went to told me 'Only drink green tea for your condition.'

I think the last thing the orginal poster wants to do is to go see a TCM practitioner. 95% have no clue as to what they are doing. Do I hear ducks in the background?

What tea are you drinking? where it came from? (specific tea and area)

Lol! Do doctors in general know what they are really doing anyway?

Our bodies are far more complex than what we "little humans" think. ;)

Arrhythmia runs in my family. Obviously, I drink a lot of green tea. About a year and a half ago, I had constant bouts with this and it lasted almost a year. Mine were usually worse at night when I went to sleep. Are you *sure* it's the green tea, or caffeine in general? Usually arrhythmia goes away on its own for no explained reason after a certain amount of time. It's very unsettling when you have it though! Mine stopped about 6 months ago and I continue to drink both coffee and tons of green tea.

Magnesium supplements are supposed to help with that by the way.

every time you put something in your mouth/blood/body it will likely end up processed by the liver = make the liver work more.

And now a question for Initiated into the secrets of medicine; does green tea may cause heart blocks? :?
heart blocks? not likely. tachyarrhythmias/rapid rate = more likely

Could be something to do with L-theanin. One Japanese green tea used to give me headaches, a karigane, and apparently they can contain a lot of thta stuff.

But like with "red wine headache" it's possible that it's a combination of factors.

And yeah, "traditional Chinese medicine" is bullshit. Please go to a real doctor if you're concerned.

I have chronic atrial fibrillation. After a cup of coffee I feel like I'm in tachycardia but with green tea or puerh I have no problem, I'm calm and relaxed even though my mind is zingo.

As others have suggested, I would try drinking a small cup of coffee to see if you can isolate the cause to caffeine or whether it's another substance particular to green tea that is causing the problem.
