I dropped by Chinatown today and picked up some Bi Luo Chun from the Chinese supermarket. I don't usually get my tea from there, but I thought I'd check out what they had. To my surprise, after opening the container I found a good looking, clean, vacuum-sealed package of tea. Better than finding it kicking around loose in some tin or shoved into one in any old bag. It wasn't expensive, then again, nearly everything there is inexpensive. I doubt there's much of a middleman involved, anyway.

Things looked promising.

I arrived home and tasted the tea, standard brewing in a gaiwan, the water maybe a little on the hot side. There was an odd metallic taste to the tea. It could have been bitterness brought out from what I think was a higher than normal temperature for Bi Luo Chun brewing, but it wasn't the sort of bitterness I expected. Definitely an odd metallic taste to it, aside from what one would expect Bi Lio Chun to taste like. I was surprised because it appeared to be a quality product.

I'll try to go for cooler temps for the next session - see if that helps, but in the meantime would someone kindly identify the writing on the bag - brand name, amount, etc. Whatever is legible, I suppose.
