A few years ago, Teegschwendner had this tea they called “Hunan Green Buds”. I've attached a picture of what the rest I have looks like now; the broken bits are probably from transport.
I'm asking because it'd be nice to have a replacement: does this tea seem familiar to anyone? : )
TeaSpring (I have actually never ordered teas online – it seems like a nice overview of Chinese teas) has two *yellow* teas that look somewhat similar: Meng Ding Huang Ya (Sichuan) and Jun Shan Yin Zhen (Hunan, indeed). I've never had yellow tea so I'm not sure how much overlap there is. The taste is, I'd say, vegetal, nutty, toasty, and a bit dark. It's strong, but not bitter. No apparent floral notes, like the Jun Shan Yin Zhen has, according to its description, and not sure if grassy like the Meng Ding Huang Ya. (Well, I don't think I have a good sense of taste.)
…I guess the only real way to find out is to order some of both and see if either tastes similar, haha.
