Sadly, it should be noted that there is a new and ongoing ... problem with Yuuki-Cha. You can read some details here (in fact, I recommend that you do):

I post this here as it seems the situation has intensified.

Maiko shincha? Great news, especially as they are offering discounts of about 25% on at least some of them.

Best wishes,

I have no problem with yuuki cha and I have full confidence in them - besides, I like their tea selection.

Here I only report what I see and hear ... in this case from someone who also had full confidence in Yuuki-Cha and liked their selection.

I only feel it is important for as many members as possible to know that they have been threatened with being blacklisted by Yuuki-Cha and legal action (not to mention their freedom of speech). Actually, I am doing Dan of Yuuki-Cha a favor as he requested of Alex that he spread the word to members ... so to speak.

What members choose to do with this information is then their choice. They have the full freedom of choice ... though not all members do.

I have been pondering much lately ... usually I endeavor to sample 20 or more Shincha each year. I wonder if I am up to this this year?

I am sure I will sample many ... from hopefully many "old friends" and hopefully make some new ones as well.

Since Sincha is my favorite tea I've already pre-ordered 10, will order a few more online, and then enjoy what the local markets make available thru the year...I'm concerned though as I'll be traveling just at the time they are arriving....

I assume that almost all of the major online retailers sell blended senchas. (And this is quite OK, of course.)

I only know of one company that sells single-estate Japanese teas, but would be interested in knowing about others.

Thanks.

This thread is enabling me!

I ordered some shincha gyokuro and sencha from maiko and some shincha from Sugimoto. I hope I can drink this fast enough! (who am I kidding? I mainline this stuff sometimes)

I have been under the impression that Japanese tea producers will generally blend tea in order to get the best flavor, while Chinese and Taiwanese producers will generally aim to provide tea of the highest pedigree from a single estate.
