I forget to post a review on the Shincha Asamushi Sae Midori from O-Cha

IMO it has a light profile. Yellowish tea. Refreshing but I would rather go Fukamushi with this tea. I started to hate asamushi.

Bought some tea from Thes du Japon:

Sencha from Hon.yama, Ôkawa-Ôma
Sencha from Tamakawa in Hon.yama, Kôshun cultivar
Sencha from Mariko, Kondo-wase cultivar
Sencha from Honyama, pesticide- and herbicide-free, Yamakai


Haven't taste them just jet because they also gave a free sample of the follow tea:
Kama-iri cha from Kumamoto


I tried the Kama-iri cha from Kumamoto and found it quite interesting. I think it falls into the category of Asamushi but it is a kama-iri cha. It has a earthy taste and I found it very comfortable. It has good fragrance. I like this tea although it taste different from other asamushi I've tasted.

I don't believe kamairicha comes in various levels of steaming. It's naturally going to taste different to an asamushi sencha because, well...it's not an asamushi sencha.

Comparing the two in that manner is kind of like saying "I enjoyed the udon noodles that I tried yesterday but they don't taste the same as spaghetti."

Having the 2014 Chiran Asatsuyu Shincha from O-Cha. Using just a bit less leaf due to the small size of the leaves. You know when you are at the bottom of a package of fukamushi and the particles are quite small....that's what this whole bag is like. Having said that it is still quite good with some deep umami and veggie notes. It is a little more straight forward and a little less durable, but none the less, it is a good value and worth a try.

I've had 3 consecutive sessions of the regular Chiran from O-Cha over two days.

This tea has changed and is essentially a new tea. It used to be a Yutaka-Midori breed, but it's now Yabukita. It's also mid-steamed now instead of deep steamed. The taste is significantly different from the former version.

It's very grassy, and well balanced. I definitely like this version more over last year's.

Very tasty, grassy, and yet still balanced. Feels good too.

I'm very curious about the one with 50 year old tea plants, seed propagated.

Just wanted to pass along the new teas this vendor has added.

Sencha from Hon.yama, Ôkawa-Ôma <<=== good umami and fragance, easy to brew
Sencha from Tamakawa in Hon.yama, Kôshun cultivar <<=== It's only good with 65 degree water.. it's a *BOO* because any temp above 65 create a flat taste
Sencha from Mariko, Kondo-wase cultivar <<=== good but not impressive, easy to brew
Sencha from Honyama, pesticide- and herbicide-free, Yamakai <=== good umami and fragrance and easy to brew

Me too. I tried one of them as they gave me a sample. With just one taste I was hooked on this kamairicha.

Hello Puerhking, any hints to bes results with that one in terms of additional brews timing? The vendor doesn't inform about hem at all and as I never had any Chiran sencha before, it will need few tests to find out Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
