I have about 36 different teas in my closet (some of them are nice some I just pushed aside because I was not impressed)....
Untill now I felt like I was the only criminal...but after spending 2 days on the forsaken forum I realize that I may not be the only one with this disease....

I say forsake forum because of this place I am going to end up spending a lot more than I usually do......

i call it the "oooh that looks good syndrome" even if you get samples there's no way you can consume 50 (just a random number as an example lol) different teas before either A: they go past their peak B: you're drinking so much tea you stay in the bathroom all day C: the combo of teas makes you sick to your stomach D: you drank SO MUCH tea you actually get sick of either drinking or making it (i've actually OD'ed on tea a couple times myself so i needed to take a short break)

Yeah i've got waay to many. I've got a backlog the size of montana... The bad part is that I don't like having too many open at the same time so i have huge amounts of unopened stuff

I only have about 20 on regular rotation right now, but I've had far more at times. It really just depends on whether you've settled on a few that you really love, or if you're still looking for them.

I order small amounts of tea at at time. But unfortunately, when I'm ordering small amounts several times a month, that can add up quickly. Also, I've traded teas with other people.

Between all the different teas, including the samples that I have, I know I have at LEAST 50 different varieties of loose tea on hand. That's not counting the bagged teas :-p

I would love to show off...let me see if I can get a picture...I have to warn you though - almost 25 of the teas are stored in the Republic of Tea cans. I reuse them and have collected them while my tea addiction was in its infancy. Obviously I am not too proud of that time of my tea journey.

I throw away teas as well. I don't know anybody who would drink them, which has resulted in some excessive wastefulness, which I now have under control. I've thrown away some pretty pricey hojicha and daily greens...

...well, now I've got my teas down to only about ten, of which three I drink every day.

I bought some herbs for blending at the bulk herb store, but they're all 1/2 lb. bags, which means I need to find someone who wants / needs shredded ginseng root, crushed peppermint and / or cut licorice root. Hmmm...

I have that "it looks good" syndrome. When I first got hooked on loose tea, I ordered a lot of samples. Here is an idea for gifts. Get the empty tea bags and fill them with the loose tea you don't really prefer, purchase a tea mug from walmart, target or whatever your pleasure and place inside, wrap in a piece of fabric or gift bag and ......... instant gift. Oh, put instructions in the mug on how to brew. Hopefully, they will like it and another will be drawn to the dark side of loose tea! I use the tea bags because they are cheaper then getting infusers.

i'm glad i'm not the only one! a little bit of a large number of teas ends up being a LOT of tea:)

My tea cupboard has nowhere near enough tea but my wife seems to think it has too much tea, who's to judge?

When you have too much tea to drink just start collecting pu-erh and other tea that should be aged - problem solved and tea still coming through the door.
Or you could invest in really expensive hermitacally sealed storage pots so that you can justify having shedloads of the stuff on the go.

Hehe, that's where I'm at. I went a bit overboard in the beginning, and now pretty much only buy what will age. Of course the danger in that is that you end up buying more just so it will last long enough to actually age!
