cold brewing iced green tea

I am brewing my iced sencha cold, because it gets less bitter that way and I can leave it overnight without much risk of ruining it. However somebody told me that you don't get the same antioxidant benefits that way. Does it need to touch hot water to release its catechins? Thanks a bunch

I promise I didn't just read that as "cat shins"....
