This looks really good, but the weather hasn't been hot enough for me to try it yet.
Have any of you ever tried it?

Why isn't this iced tea?
I have a number of ways of making cold green tea, and this is one of them - admittedly I use ice and water
this method is similar to mine:

Every tea seems a little different, but, generally, my favourite way is to put green tea in a glass pitcher with a water such as volvic and allow the sunshine to brew the tea, then strain and cool in the fridge. Powdered sencha comes into its own when you drink cold green tea.
What is the difference between tea drank 'ice cold' and iced tea anyway?

I've been meaning to try that out with some Gyokuro, but I'm waiting until shincha to order more. I've heard it's really amazing for gyokuro that way.
I've been doing a lot of cold brewing recently though. Not the full iced version, but where you just use cold water to steep your tea instead of hot.

I have just tried it with Uji Gyokuro "Yume no Ukihashi".
I used the same quantity of leaves and water as for normal brewing (9g/100-120ml)
For the steeping times, I started with Ippodo recommandations
15 min for first steep (7 min, 4 min, 4 min for the subsequent ones).
It tasted nice, perhaps stronger as the normal brewed one.
It sures deserve more experiment, as 7 min for the second steep was a little too much.

Well I tried it with sencha.
Sencha Kaboku 7g/180ml 15min, 7min, 3.5min
Water to room temperature ca 20°C
The first two steeps were stronger than normal brewed sencha, the third a little weak.
Some adjustment is needed by reducing steep times I guess.
PS: I have just realized that you are Eric from Me and my tea Teablog
Very nice and informative blog!

Cooled water: water taken out of the fridge?Pentox wrote: I liked cold brewing the other way better, where you just steep it with cooled water.

Yes, normally i get it from the water cooler at work. I've been experimenting with it quite a bit though anywhere from the melting ice version to iced water to just chilled water.olivierco wrote:Well I tried it with sencha.

Glad you like my blog. I'll probably make a post here pretty soon as far as cold water brewing goes once I finish experimenting more.
