Re: "Official" Adagio Japanese tea topic

I have had the first flush Sencha Premier the last 2 years, 2008 harvest was really exceptional and surprised me. Very well sourced.

I was not thrilled with the canister packaging nor having to acquire 5 ounces at a time. I prefer 50-100 grams or 2-4 ounces. 5 ounces also makes the product a bit misleadingly expensive at $39. This is a case of making the tea fit the existing packaging instead of finding the best packaging for the product. This would cost less than $30 if sold as a 100 gram foil envelope similar to those sold by vendors specializing in Japanese tea.

2009, only had a sample this time, was a little challenging at first to brew, but then it was very nice. Again this year, 5 ounce canister packaging is a negative for Japanese tea which needs to be ultra fresh.

I have had most of their offerings from Japan and have had positive results. I need to try their Kukicha! But I am seeing positive steps from Adagio and hope they continue the present course!!! There is clearly a learning curve in sourcing, packaging, and selling Japanese teas. Adagio is moving forward, but needs to continue to adapt instead of trying to make the tea adapt. IMHO!
