The copper glazed Eung Chul and the red copper glazed Seong-il are both glazed inside. I use them for genmaicha, jasmine and chamomile. If I had other Chinese greens I could use this pot for them, but I generally use my smaller Greenwood Studio gaiwans for those teas.
Then I have two Seong-il pots that are unglazed inside. I use them for Yancha. I know the pots are also excellent for Green tea and puerh but I feel as if the Yancha and the pot affect one another and so I reserve these 2 pots for Yancha.
I also have an onggi hobin that I usually use for Japanese teas. It does surprisingly well with gyokuro, and I also use it for Karigane. So far I've only tried it with inexpensive gyo. Someday Seong-il will make more onggi pots with handles and I'll add to my collection. I have so much Teaware, by my standards, that sometimes I feel as if I need an excuse to buy more (see TAD thread).
Re: Tead Off, TEAWARE ONLINE
Get ready! Seong il is sending me a number of teapots and some are onggi with handles. I hope to post these in the next day or so.JRS22 wrote:Someday Seong-il will make more onggi pots with handles and I'll add to my collection.
Re: Tead Off, TEAWARE ONLINE
All teapots from Seong il have been sold.
There are still some from Kim Eung Chul and some modern Yixing pots available. Please have a look here.

Kim Yung Chul's combinations of bowl holding a tray are very attractive! Just seem very inviting & remind me of my father who was the type of guy who would look at everyone's dishes when eating was all finished & find something more to eat. I imagine him (& now me as his representative here on earth) removing the tray & drinking what had spilled into bowls.
The look is beautiful even w/o thoughts going where they did.
Thanks for posting, Teadoff.

Re: Tead Off, TEAWARE ONLINE
I waited too long to order so I'm not getting an onggi pot this time around. I'm soothing my sadness with genmaicha brewed in my recently purchased Seong-il teapot, server and cup.Tead Off wrote:All teapots from Seong il have been sold.

Sorry you didn't get to order. He's told me that there will be another firing at the end of the month. Hopefully, there will be more to choose from.JRS22 wrote:I waited too long to order so I'm not getting an onggi pot this time around. Re: Tead Off, TEAWARE ONLINE
After 2 months of loving cares.
It pairs well with almost everything. The aroma of every tea is defined, porcelain-like, the body is well maintained, the aftertaste is increased.
IMO, is at its best, when paired with young Puerh and Wuyi oolong.

William, glad to hear you are enjoying the yixing pot. The proof regarding a teapot is always in its ability to brew tea that brings out the flavor, body, and aftertaste (huigan) that each tea possesses. A good teapot will also reveal a tea's shortcomings. Good tea with good teapot=Pleasure!

NEW WORK FROM KIM EUNG CHUL
Teapots, servers, and tea caddys. Eung Chul has created some lovely things, once again. As usual, quantity is limited. Don't hesitate.
Have a look HERE.

Here is a video of Seong il and Eung Chul loading their work into Seong il's kiln in Boseong, Korea. Seong il is the one is gray pants; Eung chul is in black pants.

Thanks for sharing that video. They really want to use every bit of the space in the kiln. Also, always interesting how the glaze is so bland before the pottery is baked/ One cannot see how it will turn out.
