I am going to introduce another Korean potter whose work reflects the quintessential aesthetic of the Korean potters who work primarily in porcelain. His name is Yi Yong Cheol. He lives in Gwangju which is in the Southeast portion of South Korea not far from Boseong where Hong Seong il lives. In fact, they are friends and Seong il introduced his work to me.

Yong Cheol's teaware is fired in electric or gas kilns. His glazes include white, celadon, tenmokku, and, a copper glaze, among others. His work is masterful, delicately created, and serene for the most part. All his teapots are multi-holed with smooth precise pours. The work is very affordable and I'm pleased to have him on my site. I hope we can show him a rousing welcome by snapping up many of his works.

Oh, I think there must be more than 1 present there! There are a number of pots I could be very happy living with.

Hopefully, tomorrow or the next day, I will receive photos of the cups and servers.

"buncheong clay" ... what is it? How does it compare to the onggi clay?

Great stuff, I was very interested to see a kyuusu like object that was around 100mL... very unusual! Japanese kyuusus tend to run on the much larger end...

According to Seong il, Buncheong clay is similar to onggi clay in color and may have similar properties. I will try to get a better description of it. The clay is different than the Buncheong style which people may be familiar with. Buncheong style uses slip to glaze the famous tea bowls, giving them a particular look and feel. Seong il will make Buncheong bowls and is trying to make teapots, too. Hopefully, this will be included in the lineup.

Korean style teapots often have side handles but are quite different than Japanese kyusu. Often, the Korean ones are bigger, longer, more robust. Because we are avid tea drinkers, both the potters, myself, and, many of the posters on Teachat, appreciate smaller pots for either drinking alone or with a friend or 2. They also make much larger pots similar to Japanese sizes, but, here, I am requesting and offering more intimate sizes for the conscientious tea drinker. Buyers can request larger sizes if that is what interests them and I'll provide choices for them.

If those 100 ml onggi pots are as gorgeous as the larger onggi pots I need to start working on my justification. I know I deserve these pots, but i dont know exactly why.
