is the chat box supposed to be fixed?
and glitchy scroll too - overlapping the top div flashing while scrolling ...

that would have been more natural to have static ... i want static chat box :)

brandon can that scripted?

My only advice is to use my full screen, Safari-compatible, hyperlink friendly, non-flashing chat in the mean time.

http://wikicha.com/chat/

It has a few of its own issues with high cpu/mem usage on IE6, but most modern browsers handle JavaScript much better. http://github.com/bhale/Chatter/tree/master
Code is all here for the interested.

I'd like to thank everyone for the feedback you have provided. I had hoped this software update would be completed by now, but it looks like I have a few more days to work. I hope o have the following issues resolved sometime next week:

1. Reduce the size of the font throughout the site.
2. Attempt to resurrect lost accounts.
3. Correct all text overlaps.
4. Bring back the full page chat window.
5. Design a more elegant static top navigation.

I'll try to keep everyone updated on the progress.

Ilya - thanks for all your hard work.

I'm sure we TeaChatters are a hard group to please, especially when you consider how picky we are about our tea! :)

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but there's no email link anymore. Also nowhere to enter an email to be notified for private messages.

I believe that is because there's a board preference for each user with "Users can contact me by e-mail: yes/no" and default is no. There's also a radiobutton for notify of new PMs.

Thanks ilya

That makes no sense. So what if the default is "no"?

yes, that's true, but there is no line to enter an email. So regardless of whether you allow members to contact you by email, you should be able to receive notifications, but without an email field, there's nowhere to send the notifications.

One small thing that I think would be worth doing would be to put the "View New Posts" button into a text link on the same nav bar as the "X new messages" and search. It takes up an awful lot of space, and I use it a heck of a lot more than "View your posts."

At one point some time ago I visited the forum when you were playing with layouts and you had the chat stay static with the top banner. I thought that was really cool - I've never used the stuff in the banner enough for scrolling up to bother me except for the chat; I think that the chat is really the only thing (IMO) that's really worth making static.

One other thing is that I think that with the alternating background colors for posts in a thread, the new white foreground on the darker background is actually kind of confusing. I don't know what anyone else thinks of it, but I would really prefer it if the posts alternated white and gray/tan/whatever, rather than white and white-on-gray.

Lastly, any chance that the "View first unread post" graphic could be made just a little bit bigger? It's always been a little small and hard to get at, but with the new spacing I think that if it were just a few pixels bigger it would be easier to click.

It still bothers me that the "Last Post" field doesn't show who the last post in a thread was made by (more meaningful to me than a date and time), but that's as it's always been. I just hope you can reconsider it at some point :)

I also miss the avatar reflection. I thought that made the avatars a little more elegant :(

Several times I have been confused by it, I think taking the white posts as quotes.

It's under User Control Panel -->Profile-->Edit Account Settings

I still don't get emails for subscriptions despite having my email address in that field. I don't know about PM notifications.
