#9 HM!
"spirit" calls it "SEISHIN" in Japanese.

Love the shape ...

Or maybe we should call it "Big Foot"?

Ahhh, gawwwwjus!

Mine came today, but alas, all I have is a notice that it's being held at the Post Office. Unfortunately with work, I probably won't be able to pick it up until Thursday or Friday.

Double alas!

Yours looks like bubbles Chip. My bubbles must have all popped during firing and are holes. I've got to take some photos to show you what I mean. I'll do that this evening.

Oooh! So beautiful! Love the bubbles/holes/little circular lack of glazes whatever they are, and the translucency, and the delicacy of the glaze over the rough clay, wow.

Victoria wrote:Yeah I saw those, I looked at all the pics quite throughly, even enlarging them. They did appear more like bubbles than holes. Such a unique glaze so beautiful. Perhaps more successful as an over glaze on top of another color. But that is what makes these so unique. I can't wait to see it in person. Congrats on being the first!!

Yeah, in person it is really so cool. I certainly never saw anything with so many of the features exhibited in this piece. I think mission accomplished.

The first goal was to convey the juxtaposition of really extreme oni Hagi with the translucent glaze. It is amazing how problematic this actually was.

After a 4+ hour soak, this certainly absorbs a lot of water, and the clay darkens. This will be a fun Hagi to watch.

I can't see how the crackles darken. It will look pretty awesome!

Here is mine. It looks like it might have been bubbles, but they are pretty much all popped.

The glaze is soooo beautiful! It's like a sky full of stars...
Also, I wouldn't complain about bubbles/holes. Anyone should feel lucky for posessing one of these cups, they are unique!

I am loving the bubbles and holes... can't wait to get mine, and hope there are some of both. Hagi pieces feel so very "alive", breathing and pulsing, with their own unique fingerprint, and a road of life ahead with so much anticipation for the growth and maturity and changes that come with each passing day.

I'm not complaining per se. The glaze is incredible, there's no questioning that. I'm just getting used to the holes. I've been using it and can't wait to see how it's going to age.
