Does this mean pictures of the work in progress and such?
Time will tell ...

Seriously, some of these guys do not even have computers which hinders the process. So, I can only say, time will tell.

Heh, I was going to say... unless if we hired somebody to go over there and take pictures while they were working....... but even then, Japanese potters do not strike me as the type that enjoy distractions while working.

Chip, maybe you can use Lego-men and other Lego-products to create re-enactments of the process for our viewing pleasure?

That's it! We need to hire super stealthy ninja photographers to capture the progress. 8)

Maybe one has only to ask... As far as I know, western potters like to share the progress of their work. I think of Petr Novak and so many others in here or in their blogs. Why should it be different with japanese potters ?

I sure would like to see the process of creating the Rock !

Because the Japanese people are a pretty insular people. And no, that's neither a stereotype nor an insult.

But hey, ask away -- Eiichi is of the younger type, and he may be more in tune with such things.

Sorry Stentor, I somehow missed your post.

In answer to your question, Japanese potters will rarely be so forthcoming. They often cannot be bothered with computers, etc.

However he is a new generation, so only time will tell.

A lot of the discovery process for us will more likely be verbalized.

OK, you should expect a series of posts here as I endeavor to communicate the news and updates on the Eiichi Commission!

In early communications, I conveyed that we are honored to work with Eiichi and Mago on this commission work, and that this desire to have Eiichi work on something totally new in the form of a commission, is a highest form of praise from us to Eiichi. And we hope this will be an encouragement to him.

In reply, Eiichi is equally honored and very motivated to work on this project, it is an opportunity for him to create some pieces that he has had in his mind. He actually has 2 ideas/concepts, though these have not been conveyed to me.

More to come ...

"Meanwhile, in the secret lab of Shibuya Eiichi, strange and mysterious Hagi-experiments are being performed." At least I hope so ;)

Any news about this?
