Can anyone recommend some good quality decaf japanese green teas?
I had my first cup of sencha yesterday, and loved it... until the resulting headache from the caffeine hit me.
Also, is there such a thing as decaf matcha? Is it possible?

Good quality decaf, I don't think such thing exists, especially for Japanese greens.witches brew wrote:Can anyone recommend some good quality decaf japanese green teas?

You could try this
but you could end up with so called "chinese" sencha.
As for decaf matcha, I haven't seen any so far.

Thanks. I will sample their offerings while the taste of real sencha is fresh in my mind. I'm sure it won't be quite as delicate in flavor, but I hope it will come close. The real sencha tasted like a sprintime meadow. mmm.olivierco wrote: but you could end up with so called "chinese" sencha.

Do something different, something different will happen. ( Gong Fu Garden )
It's all relative. I was looking for an idea of the best of what's out there. I received my decaf sencha sample from Specialteas today, and just tried some.
No, it doesn't have the really fresh spring meadow taste of the real thing. It's more like mid-summer meadow, which is better than old hay, I suppose.
I had hoped to try a variety of teas, but I simply can't tolerate the caffeine, so I will take pleasure in these approximations.
