If you look at the websites that sell this tisane you might believe that people all over the Mediterranean have been drinking olive leaf infusions for centuries.
I'm all for the olive tree. I'm half Spanish with a keen interest in my culinary heritage, but this drink isn't part of that heritage. Olives and olive oil most certainly are, just as drinks and infusions made with tiger nuts, toasted barley, green anis, tila, liquorice, melisa, camomile, spearmint and many other plants are.
Does anyone know of anyone who drank olive leaf tea regularly before the 1990s?
