Greetings TCers.

This will be an ongoing topic where Round schedules will be declared AHEAD OF TIME. I hope to give 3 day lead time of the actual Round topics.

EDIT: below is a tentative schedule of OTTI that are currently planned. There are more even more tentatively planned, so if you do not see something you are hoping and waiting for, hang in there ...

And tentative means completely subject to change! :mrgreen:

Here is the schedule for Rounds 1,2,3. All times are Eastern USA.

Monday 5/24 @ 9 pm: Round 1 ShinCHAAAA! There will be an excellent grouping of new harvest 2010 Sencha. Some of these are even new to me!

Tuesday 5/25 @ 9 pm: Round 2 Whites, Silver Needles to be precise ... a selection of gems.

Wednesday 5/26 @ 9 pm: Round 3 Oolongs, a selection including some from Adagio's Master Series.

On the above dates, I will post the designated topics under OTTI. These topics will include all the information you will need to participate as well as information on the actual teas.

I am really looking forward to this! :mrgreen:

Are you going to post brewing suggestions for each tea in the round? I was just thinking that it may give some consistency to what we are each tasting.

Ugh, of course I have to work late tomorrow. Hopefully I won't be too late. I've very excited too

. I think brewing suggestions would be a good idea. Gaiwans would probably be the easiest way to achieve consitancy, no?

Touche! Thank you. I will reserve a few spaces for Europeans for up to 12 hours after the official opening of each round!

Remember as previously stated in another OTTI topic, there is a higher shipping cost to Europe ... not much, maybe several dollars. This would be added to the cost for European participants.

Yes ... however in the discussion, members can certainly add suggestions. I am obviously pretty astute when it comes to greens. :mrgreen:

As we venture into other types, this gets more challenging as we all vary to a degree on how we brew oolongs for instance. Then vendor guides are all different.

This aspect will certainly be ... very interesting!

Gaiwans will work well for many teas, but not so well for Round 1 which will be mostly Fukamushi Shincha which is a fine particle tea. It can be done, but can be really challenging. Part of the learning curve in participating in OTTIs will be to come to a better understanding of complimentary brewing vessels. :mrgreen:

OK, tonight (Monday) will be Round 1. 9 pm Eastern time.

One possible glitch. My brother is in from Chicago, so I might struggle a bit to get this posted right at 9, but I will do me bestest! :mrgreen:
