Greetings TeaFriends,

Welcome to OTTI 19 “Event of the Season.” You are all welcome to take a virtual seat at this very fine OTTI round TeaTable for an extaordinary array of Taiwan Oolong. As usual, first come, first served.

Tony (TeaChat member SilentChaos also refered to as Tony in this topic) and I have been wanting to put together an OTTI round dedicated to his http://www.origintea.net/ for too long. But great things have resulted from our patience. OTTI 19 is a dedicated to one vendor round. It features 5 very premium, high-altitude selections from 2013 harvests. These are greener Gaoshan selections (from Taiwan).

Each participant will receive all 5 samples, 10 grams of each, 50 grams total. All samples have been vacuum sealed in Taiwan (many THANKS Tony!).

Also a very limited few of you who will be awarded the Bonus will receive a very special selection from Tony’s private collection.

Here is the line-up. There are no “fillers!” These are all premium high-mountain selections. Tony will be updating his site very shortly to offer expanded descriptions for each of these selections. So, keep checking his site for updates for each selection!

Limited Bonus [Private Collection] 2013 Spring DYL102K
http://www.origintea.net/private-collection-2013-DYL-102K-Supreme
The Bonus samples are awarded to topic participants. A few are already awarded. A few remain. Look for prompts from yours truly for another opp to receive the Bonus!

Participant Cost for this round is 20 USD plus shipping cost [EDIT, this might come down a bit. This round came together extremely fast! I had to speed up my guestimation process considerably. Everyone will receive the same lowest "price."] Regardless, this is below the cost per gram if you were to order the teas in larger amounts from Origin Tea. So this is an excellent opportunity to sample some of the best Origin Tea has to offer!

It is possible there may be 2X positions (double, you receive 20 grams of each selection) available. If you want to 2X this round, include this in your order email. Of course, we will allow everyone the opportunity to order 1X first. After a few days, if 2X positions are available, you will be so notified.

See next post for Ordering and Shipping directions.

Ordering and Shipping Information

For general info on how the OTTIs run, please see this topic: http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=16242 The biggest change is if you are interested in participating in this OTTI round, I am asking that you email me on or after 6 pm Eastern USA time today (Sunday June 23) with the information requested below. Email to teachatmoderator@yahoo.com ... SUBJECT: OriginTea OTTI.

If you email me from your paypal email, that will simplify things, but it is not necessary!

Keep in mind, OTTI is a not for profit tasting program. I have personally purchased these selections and personally paid to have them to be shipped to me. OTTI is not bankrolled by Adagio nor any other vendor/sponsor. This helps keep the tasting as objective as possible, limiting outside influences.

OTTI cost is less per gram for participants than if you purchased a bag from the vendor and had it shipped to you!

Shipping Cost in USD:

USA- $2.75. USA participants can upgrade shipping to Priority for $4.50 more.Canada/other North America $3.75
Europe/South America- $4.75
Asia/Australia/Africa- $7

Please remember, all OTTI related costs are simply that, costs. There is a cushion of around 1 USD per participant after estimated expenses to cover any "surprises" in shipping, etc. This is as always really tight, but OTTI is NOT a for profit program. It is to benefit those of us who want to sample great teas ... and it benefits vendors by promoting their offerings. And of course share the experience with other passionate tea drinkers.

Any surplus $$$ will roll over into the OTTI fund. Surplus at the end of the 2013 will go towards charity. For instance, The TC Japan Relief Fund has raised over $1300 for this effort
(Through OTTI and Teaware Special Offerings).

Email your interest to teachatmoderator@yahoo.com including your:

TeaChat User Name
Your name
Mailing address formatted exactly as it would appear on a package or letter addressed to you.
Country
If outside of USA, your phone number is recommended for customs forms/packages!
Paypal email address

After receiving your email, I will double check availability based upon order received. You will receive a reply asap! In the past I have endeavored to reply the same night. Ultimately you will receive directions for payment including amount owed … this may or may not be in the first email I send to you (depends on how crazy this gets  ).

There will be NO "Blind Key" for this round!

Brewing suggestions will be posted here ... though you can also visit http://www.origintea.net for brewing directions which are located on the same page of each selection.

[EDIT July 8]
For brewing suggestions from OriginTea, be sure to follow links to the individual selections located in the second post.

Although I am still taking my time working my way up the ladder from least to most expensive, I think at this point the only thing I will add to this is I prefered a higher ratio. So instead of 2:1, I would go 2.5:1 or even higher. Alternately I guess I could simply brew a bit longer, but my instincts say gimme more leaf.

And enjoy! Remember to post!!! :!:

Fast and steady out of the gate!

All are in so far ... and still plenty of seats remain. Though this has possibly been the fastest start to date for an OTTI.
