“Take some more tea,” the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.
“I’ve had nothing yet,” Alice replied in an offended tone: “so I ca’n’t take more.”
“You mean you ca’n’t take less,” said the Hatter: “it’s very easy to take more than nothing.”

Hagi & Chado

by robbie_olive » Apr 27th, '09, 08:10

chamekke wrote:Hi Robbie!

Thank you for posting. I indeed hope that you'll share photos of your Hagi pieces with us ... especially the chawan by Kaneta Sanzaemon :) Do you study Chadou as well?
Hi Chamekke,

Yes I do study chado. I've been doing it for about a year now. I go to a chado practice session each Saturday. It's quite intense, but it's also lots of fun, and has really changed the way I look at things! There is so much to learn, and the Sensei that I learn from is still learning, even after practising for over 10 years!
I showed my Sensei some of the Hagi chawan that I have and has on many occasions asked if he could use them, for which I've happily obliged!

My tea sensei has been studying for over 40 years now, and she is still taking lessons from someone more senior than herself. It really is a lifetime practice

Wonderful to meet a fellow student! Welcome!

Hagiyaki Chawan show & tell

by robbie_olive » Apr 28th, '09, 00:45

Hi all,

Here is a link of a pic of one of the many Hagi chawan that I own. http://i712.photobucket.com/albums/ww12 ... 1240891541 This is one is by Yamane Seigan, and the chawan has a Mei entitled "Shunsetsu" or "Spring Snow".

If anyone can tell me how to insert a picture into my replies, instead of a URL, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Very very nice chawan robie! I have a similar notched foot Yamane Seigan chawan 3 pages or so back. Yours is superior! (but I still love mine)

From your photobucket it is easy. Mouse over the image, and click/copy the img option below the photo. Then just paste it here.

Just moved this from "show off" so it will feel more at home with the rest of the hagi.

i've had this seigan guinomi for ~6 months but i only use it for sake. it's so chunky, i love it. i don't drink sake very often so the glaze hasn't changed much yet. i love how sake leaves the guinomi smelling sweet even after being washed out with hot water.

Very nice Chawan Geek. And great guinomi Smells_Familiar! I have several notch footed Seigan pieces, the foot certainly adds drama!

And you add vases to the topic. Not to mention guinomi and sake pitchers. I saw Seigan chop stick rests recently.

So the chopstick rests are Seigan blue then? Or are they white?
White I would love. Blue not so much.
