New to TeaChat from Australia.

by robbie_olive » Apr 25th, '09, 01:46

Hi all,

I'm Robbie from Australia.

Just found this TeaChat site and it looks like a handy way to get information about all sorts of tea. My particular interest in teas are the Japanese Premium Sencha and Matcha teas.

I have just ordered some Shincha Kagoshima Yutaka Midori and Uji Kirameki from o-cha.com. I'm hoping that from the reviews that I've read, that they're as good as what people have said.

I'm also trying to find a high quality Shincha Gyokuro, but not sure where to turn to. Price is not a concern. Any suggestions?

Cheers.
Robbie

Welcome!

Shincha gyokuro might exist: there is a little controversy whether it is marketing trick or not.

Usually gyokuro is aged a little time. If you want a good gyokuro you can try from O-cha Kame Jiru Shi, Tsuru Jiru Shi (my favorite ones) or any of the +40$ ones which are high quality gyokuros.
Ippodo sells also some very good gyokuros (Kanro, Ippoen and Tenka Ichi)

Welcome robbie_olive to TeaChat. I hope to see you around the forum. Please share what is in your cup on TeaDay.

YM is da bomb. It has been my fave sencha for 3 years, and I have tried quite a few in that time. But there are a lot of good ones out there these days.

The Kame gyokuro is my fave gyo.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Hi there,

Well you've found a great place to "talk tea". I haven't been around here for a very long time, but the folks here are lots of fun, love to share their knowledge, opinions and pictures.

Happy sipping,
Dreamer
