A question to tea room owners, what is your policy about reservations and no shows?
If a person calls and makes a reservation for let's say 6 persons for Afternoon Tea, which I know is an art form in itself, and takes a while to prepare, if done properly, and then either only 2 show up, what do you do or what is your policy? What do you do with the extra prepared tea services.

Full Tea reservation policy

After being left with a table full of food and no-shows, I established the following policy:

" All Full Teas are made fresh, per person to order.
Reservatons must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
Credit card deposit or payment by cash, check or debit required at time of
Credit card will be billed for full amount on day of reservation if Full Tea is not
attended and not cancelled at least 24 hours in advance.
Cancellations with at least 24 hours advance notice will not be billed.

If less than reserved number of persons show up, I still charge for the number of guests food is prepared for. Guests can either split up the extra food or take it to go and keep it or give it to the guests who did not attend. If 24 hour notice is given, I adjust the amount of food prepared and only charge for the amount of reserved guests.

This type of policy works fine, is fair to everyone involved, and eliminates embarassement for everyone.
