Where can I find Valerian and Licorice?
Anyone know of some good vendors for loose valerian tea? I didn't seem to find any good results when I googled it.
Also, I'm looking for loose licorice (again, need a vendor) or another loose herbal that gives a little bit of spice or licorice-y flavor.

Mountain Rose Herbs is a vendor in Oregon that ships inexpensively and quickly. They sell dozens upon dozens of dried herbs, and I've bought valerian from them. I'm sure they also have licorice. They sell some normal tea (Camellia sinensis) as well and a lot of other granola/herbal health supplement sort of stuff. I recommend them.

Also, if you like the licorice flavor, a good Lan Gui Ren Oolong supplies that in abundance.

Oh wow, I even had this site bookmarked. Thanks! I didn't know to look for valerian there. Are their herbal blends any good? I'm pretty picky.

In all honesty, I didn't start buying herbs until after I found them so they've been my only source, but they seem really committed to quality and customer service. They have how-to videos for herbal stuff on YouTube and they're always super quick with questions and shipping.
The only thing I've bought from them and elsewhere is dried peppermint for tea. I had bought it from Adagio before then bought 8 oz. from MRH. The herbs are so inexpensive at MRH and when I opened the bag I was seriously punched in the face with the strongest, most wonderful menthol peppermint smell. It seems really fresh and strong.

The prices are really superb, I agree. Peppermint: MH= $2.75, Adagio= $6
Both the valerian and chamomile are out of stock, but I'll probably call and ask when more will be back in stock.

Although the shipping is pretty horrible, $9.25 and up... I might keep looking for some better rates.
Feels a bit like a bait and switch.

Are you looking for a source for white licorice tea or licorice root (or a form of licorice root)?

We buy dried licorice root pretty inexpensively at a nearby Chinese-owned supermarket. Might be worth looking if you have one in your area.

Any health food store should have it. I live in a smaller city (50,000 people or so), and at least two of the local "herbal" stores carry both.

If you have fennel growing near you or are able to buy it, that might be a good way to get the flavor you're looking for. Thanks for the pointers to MRH, everyone - that could be a good way to get various herbs.
