white bud (bai ya) qi lan

by gingkoseto » Aug 8th, '09, 11:05

This is great! I am having it for the first time today :D

It's quite similar to Tie Guan Yin, but I think I like it better than TGY - probably because currently quality of a bai ya qi lan is comparable to quality of a TGY 3 times of the price. I've already read some articles calling this tea "a new fad". Let's hope it won't get as expensive as TGY :P

I got it from one of my favorite Chinese oolong-selling (mainly TGY selling) websites. My photos are not good enough to show this tea. Here are some photos from the vendor

Maybe you could get some to offer on your ebay store for those who do not have Chinese language skills?

I have been connecting with some smaller vendors in China and try to get them connected to US market, either through ebay or selling to people directly. This qi lan seller is a very knowledgeable and open-minded person. I do hope to get more of his products here in near future. On the other hand, maybe later they will have an English website too :D

Very nice! Has the floral aroma of a Taiwanese Oolong, with a soupy feel.
Not sure if it is worth the hype and price, but it's very good.
:)
