The most common way to pronounce it is roy-boss, but i find myself saying roy-bose

The Wikipedia article on Rooibos has the phonetic notation for the word. My linguist friend said that one would pronounce it like "roy-bos" with the second syllable of the word sounding like 'boast' without the 't'.

What's everybody's favorite rooibos? Mine is chocolate peppermint. Every morning I have a cup.

I don't drink it. After my first trip to China I was SO enthused about tea. I came home and bought 3 cans of 'red tea' to renew the relationship with my new found friend. First cup... YAGHHH! That tasted NOTHING like the red tea I had in Nanning!! Second batch... UUGGHHHHH! That was even worse. Further examination of the packages revealed that the 'red tea' I had purchased wasn't tea at all, it was the product of some sort of shrub from southern Africa. :?

Just too much of a shock to my system (and my taste buds)... I've never tried it again.

Heh heh...yeah, you really can't drink rooibos thinking it's going to taste exactly like tea. It's enjoyable...but it's got a profile all it's own.

So true. I was suffering from "Newb Disorder", a illness in which over-enthusiasm leads one to do irrational things.

I check labels now....

You may want to try some of the available Pu Erh teas. They will take you back to China in an instant. Adagio Teas has a great Pu Erh Dante.
